Congratulations to Daishin Kashimoto: his CD with chamber music by Nino Rota received a Diapason d'or award of the year!
(04/12/2021)

Together with Éric Le Sage, Emmanuel Pahud, Paul Meyer, Aurélien Pascal, and other musical partners, Daishin Kashimoto presents outstanding works by the composer on the recording, released on the Alpha Classics label.

With compositions such as the Piccola Offerta Musicale, which Rota wrote in 1943, a nonet that was composed in the late 1950s, and the trio for clarinet, cello and piano (1973), the musicians show that not only because of his famous film scores Nino Rota can be considered an important composer of the 20th century. Or as The Guardian put it in an enthusiastic review: "This music more than stands alone and should be on the menu of every concert hall."

The trio for flute, violin, and piano, which is also included on the CD, was performed by Daishin Kashimoto, Emanuel Pahud, and Eric Le Sage as part of the Le Pont Festival, of which Daishin Kashimoto is artistic director. The live stream from the Berlin Philharmonie is still available online (trio starting at 1.20').
